Series 1: Playing with Fire

FireBruce Dickey, the American cornetto pioneer and world-renowned virtuoso, joins the Consort for music from the Italian late Renaissance and early baroque, when with dazzling pyrotechnics, sublime poetry, and gorgeous harmonies, composers and performers strove to re-invent music and re-define expressivity. The result is music both extravagantly beautiful and breathtakingly virtuosic.  This concert honors the memory of musicologist and Consort founder Howard Mayer Brown, who did seminal research into these ornamentation styles of the late 16th and early 17th centuries.
