The Newberry Consort opens its 2024-2025 season with luscious music from seventeenth-century England for viols, voices, cornetto, lute, and sackbuts, featuring compositions by Orlando Gibbons, John Dowland, Thomas Lupo, the English Bassanos, Thomas Campion, John Coprario, Nicholas Lanier, and more. The program explores the intriguing interconnections of English court musicians, whose music formed the backdrop for political, scientific, and artistic transitions and innovations during the time of Shakespeare and the reign of King James I.

We invite you to join us after these concerts for a reception to celebrate the opening of the season.
