Jerry Fuller
Jerry Fuller began studying the double bass at age sixteen and within five years was first desk at the Lyric Opera of Chicago and performing with the Santa Fe Opera. A Chicago Artists Abroad grant recipient, Mr. Fuller’s performances in London, Rome, Geneva, and Edinburgh have been broadcast worldwide. He has performed at the Ravinia and the Aspen Music Festivals, the Boston and the Berkeley Early Music Festivals, and was a soloist at The Musikkollegium Winterthur Switzerland. He has also appeared with the American Bach Soloists (San Francisco), the Handel and Haydn Society (Boston), and the Newberry Consort (Chicago). He is principal double bassist of the Haymarket Opera Company, Third Coast Baroque, and Callipygian Players and is Musician-in-Residence at The Bach Institute (Valparaiso University) and Rockefeller Chapel (University of Chicago). He has recorded for Musical Arts Society, Cedille, and Centaur labels, and his writings on period instruments and performance practice have appeared in The Strad, Double Bassist, and Bass World. Mr. Fuller received the Early Music America Outreach Award for Excellence in Early Music Education and a Special Recognition Award for Historically Informed Performance from the International Society of Bassists.
